|Thomas B. Binder, M.D., is Board Certified in General Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics. He received his medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine after undergraduate training at Brown University. Dr. Binder completed Pediatric Residency and Chief Residency training through the University of Connecticut Pediatric Residency Program based primarily at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. He has been a practicing community pediatrician in the Hartford area since 2001 and founded Hartford Area Pediatrics in 2003 with the principle of providing exceptional healthcare to children in a modern, friendly office. His special interests include asthma, behavioral medicine and sports medicine. Dr Binder resides in West Hartford with his wife (an English teacher) and three children. When away from the office, Dr. Binder keeps busy with his children’s activities and enjoys running, biking and summer triathlons.||Meredith W. Barrows, MD, IBCLC, is Board Certified in General Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics and is also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Meredith joined Hartford Area Pediatrics part-time in 2008 and has been a real asset to the practice ever since.
She received her medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine after undergraduate training at the University of Vermont. Dr. Barrows completed Pediatric Residency training through the University of Connecticut Pediatrics Residency Program based primarily at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. She continues to work there as well in the Emergency Department. She studied lactation consulting under Christina Smillie, MD at Breastfeeding Resources. Meredith resides in Simsbury with her husband and three children. When she’s not working, she enjoys gardening, running, and spending time with her family.
Dr. Barrows has been a practicing community pediatrician in the Hartford area since 2005.
|Rebecca Corcoran Becky started working at Hartford Area Pediatrics as a medical assistant in September of 2015. Having worked in the health care field for the last five years she is very excited to be working in pediatrics with children and families.
Married to her husband, Jaime, she spends her days outside of the office taking care of her four children- Shelby, Tymothy, Spencer and Turner. In her spare time she loves cooking, baking, hiking with her dogs and spending time outside.
|Mary Jo Ker Mary Jo has been working as a medical receptionist for Hartford Area Pediatrics since August 2014. She graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in psychology. Previously she has worked in the marketing departments of GE and JCPenney as well as the press box of the Dallas Cowboys. After taking some time off to spend with her children and volunteering for various organizations, she happily joined HAP. She resides in Simsbury with her husband and two children. When not working, Mary Jo enjoys watching her children on courts and fields, traveling, reading and kayaking.|
|Molly K Naples, MD joined Hartford Area Pediatrics in 2015. She received her medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine after her undergraduate education at Boston College. Dr. Naples completed Pediatric Residency training through the University of Connecticut Residency Program, based primarily at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford. She resides in Farmington with her husband Jim, who is completing his training in ENT surgery, and their 1 year old son Thomas, who keeps her very busy. Dr. Naples also enjoys running, cooking, baking, and spending time with friends and family.||Liz Pelletier has been working at Hartford Area Pediatrics as a medical assistant since the office opened in October 2003. She attended Indiana University and graduated from Briarwood College. She is married to Tim and has two girls, Ellen, who attends University of New Hampshire and Abbey, who attends University of Vermont. When away from the office, Liz enjoys attending her girl’s sports activities, going to the gym, skiing, traveling and playing with her lab, Maggie.|
|Ginny Porch is a Licensed Practical Nurse. She received her Connecticut license in September 2008 and graduated from Porter and Chester Institute. She has worked for Hartford Area Pediatrics since January 2006, and in pediatrics since 2002. Ginny is married to Brent and has two children, Molly and Benjamin. In her spare time she enjoys running with her boxer Brody, attempting to cook and spending time outside.||Alexis Scheidel has been with the practice since November, 2010, and is one of the Medical Receptionists you will find as you first walk in to Hartford Area Pediatrics. When she is not on the phone or doing important paperwork, you can probably hear her laughter around the office or see her talking to patients and parents. She attended Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, and graduated with a degree in Liberal Arts. Alexis is married to her husband Michael, and they have a daughter, Samantha. In her spare time, Alexis is an avid Steelers sports fan, and also likes to travel, read, and spend quality time with family and friends.|
Beth Sciallis has been working at Hartford Area Pediatrics as a receptionist and medical assistant since the Fall of 2013. Beth is pursuing her dream of becoming a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant, taking prerequisites while gaining experience. She is a graduate of James Madison University, with a BS in Health Administration. Originally from Virginia, Beth has worked for many years in Pediatric offices and hospitals before settling in Simsbury. When she’s not working Beth can be seen cheering on her son at travel soccer and basketball games and listening to her daughter play her cello and viola.
|Pamela Thistlewaite has been working for Hartford Area Pediatrics since August 2010. She is the office’s billing specialist, and also handles accounts receivable and coordination of other office needs. You will occasionally catch glimpses of her floating around the office or filling in at the front desk. She is a 2001 graduate of Rhode Island College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. When she’s not working, Pam enjoys spending time with her husband, Bob, their 3 young children, Emma, Jacob and Paige, their four cats, extended family and friends. She enjoys reading, photography, music, movies, stargazing, numerous outdoor activities, and her iPhone.|
